A simple conversation caught on film caused a landslide of controversy and changed baseball forever. The two men in this picture are Gabby Hartnett, Catcher for the Chicago Cubs (left) and Alphonse Gabriel “Al” Capone (right), Nortorious Gangster. Capone was a regular at games at both Wrigley Field and Comiskey Park. The Chicago crime boss was always close to the action in his front row box seat. When this photograph made the papers, Harnett landed in hot water. The association of organized crime  and professional sports was not to be tolerated by the League. Soon after a ban was instated, restricting players from speaking to fans in the stands. This piece of history sold at LELANDS AUCTIONS for $1,892.35. via Strictly fitteds
