Being born in Queens, New York my love of hip-hop stems from the lyrical craft of the culture. So when moving to Miami in 2000, my cousins putting me on to Bass music and ass shaking girls on sandy beaches showed me another element of hip-hop and introduced me to Uncle Luke and the 2 Live Crew. Creating the blueprint for having fun with hip-hop in music videos, fighting the supreme court regarding free speech, and setting up youth football programs and one-time Miami-Dade mayoral candidate in city the man Luther Campbell is a Legend. Chef/Owner Danny Serfer of Mignonette is in the kitchen showing his love for hip-hop by collaborating with Uncle Luke for a dinner party that coincides with a new book, The Book of Luke: My Fight for Truth, Justice, and Liberty City. It felt like a grass roots push that he could run for Mayor again, the event had that political dinner under tone minus the background music of “shake what your mamma gave ya”. And in between each course Luke told some stories from the book. The menu created by Serfer with input from Uncle Luke, little known fact that he mentioned before rapping he was a cook at Mount Sinai Hospital in South Florida. Serfer and his crew cooked up a five course meal of down home favorites and Miami classics which were excellent. By: -@theo_de_moor
