Checkout an upcoming collection from New Balance the “Barber Shop” pack which features the 580, 999 and the 1600 silhouette. For this pack New Balance chose to use a red suede upper contrasted by a grey seen on the sneakers midsole, mesh and tongue. A touch of blue was also added to the sneakers branding and outsole completing the Barber feel. The 1600 featured a similar design set up pairing royal blue suede uppers with grey mesh and a small dose of red and white offering an alternative to the 580’s bright red upper. The 999 in this pack stands out sporting a multi grey suede upper accented by royal and a small dose of red seen towards the back of the outsole and on the tongue tags, white laces and soles add some live to the sneakers neutral upper. Checkout some knowledge on Barber Shops and their shop poles Sneaker Freaker dropped when they posted the image above.

‘The origin of the red and white barber pole is associated with the service of bloodletting and was historically a representation of bloody bandages wrapped around a pole. During medieval times, barbers performed surgery on customers, as well as tooth extractions. The original pole had a brass wash basin at the top (representing the vessel in which leeches were kept) and bottom (representing the basin that received the blood). The pole itself represents the staff that the patient gripped during the procedure to encourage blood flow.’
