As part of their entrepreneurship through music and fashion initiative 8&9 teamed up with students at Meriden's Maloney High School to design Good Dad Gang clothing for conscious hip-hop artist Terminology.  The collaboration spawned from a 10 week Change The Play program where students learn key principles of entrepreneurship while completing actionable tasks of designing, marketing, and selling the product which promotes positivity in parenting.

Maloney students worked with 8&9 and Terminology on concepts for design and marketing of the new Good Dad Gang t shirt.  While brainstorming on the qualities of good parents, what it takes to be a good dad Terminology and students shared personal experiences as parents and children.  Teaching through sports and the idea of awarding good parents came up. Someone mentioned championships drawing parallel to Michael Jordan’s teary tribute to his deceased father years before.

In 1996, Michael Jordan’s Bulls went 72-10, in the playoffs they defeated the Orlando Magic to win the NBA Championship on Father’s Day. Jordan’s emotional dedication to his father would be the inspiration for the Good Dad Gang t shirt.  Themes of victory, championships, Bulls colors, sporty details all come together in the collaborative design.
