In 2006, Jordan Brand released the Jordan Spiz’ike OG sneaker – a hybrid mash-up of several Air Jordan models associated with Spike Lee and the memorable “Mars Blackmon” ad campaigns. The first-ever colorway was this mix of white, red, green, and grey inspired by his 40 Acres and a Mule production company that celebrated its 20th Anniversary in 2006. Next Saturday, Jordan Brand will pay homage to Spike with a Retro of this original model.Dressed in a White leather upper, Varsity Red hitting the toe and heel, Cement Grey heel-panel finished with a Classic Green inner-lining. Look for the Jordan Spizike “OG” to officially launch at select Jordan Brand accounts on Saturday, August 9, 2014.

A Little History about the Spiz’ike is they are a mash-up of the Jordan III, IV, V, VI, Air Jordan IX and XX shoes. Only 4,567 pairs were made of the original release,with all of the proceeds going to Morehouse College.The number 40 represents Spike Lee’s film company, 40 Acres & A Mule Film works, and the number 23 represents Michael Jordan’s jersey number.Each future release of the shoes varied the colors use.
